11 Focus Points on the Suits Season 2 Mid-season Premiere
Suits Season 2 Episode 11: Blind-Sided
Suits returns from it’s Season 2 fall break and wastes no time going full-throttle. You may recall Daniel Hardman was voted out of the firm and Mike (Patrick J. Adams) was mourning the loss of Edith before he could bestow her with his surprise gift, he tried to release his emotions by hooking up with Rachel (Meghan Markle) who thought it was best not to given his grief, but after he decided to fill that void with his old friend Tess (Elisabeth Hower), Rachel came over Mike’s place to give into her urges, only to find Mike had already moved on. In tonight’s mid-season premiere, “Blind-Sided” we’re teasing all you Suits fans with 11 things to look forward to.
1. Grand Opening
The mid-season premiere picks up right where the break left off and the Monday morning after is set up with a great opening sequence. Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Donna (Sarah Rafferty) sitting in an office, B-A-N-T-E-R-I-N-G. In comes Louis (Rick Hoffman)–out comes the claws, A-W-K-W-A-R-D.
2. Tsk Tsk Tess
For all of you rooting for Team Rachel, sorry, but you haven’t seen the last of Tess. Obviously Mike tries to explain his actions but don’t be surprised if you find yourself angry with Mike again, again, and…
3. Redemption for Rachel
After the initial clumsy meeting after the incident, Rachel and Mike’s second scene is so good that you’ll give her a standing ovation and you just might look at her in a different way.
4. A Super Reference
Who doesn’t love superheroes? I am always amazed when super heroes get a cool mention in an unrelated drama. It’s the sign that comic book geeks rule the world. But one gets a very memorable mention so good you’ll be looking for the animated gif seconds after the episode ends.
5. Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh Sheeeeeila
Harvard Law representative Sheila Sazs (Rachel Harris) returns in a memorable performance and hopefully she’ll remain a series regular because it’s just nice to see Louis play off of someone who doesn’t hate him at the same time.
6. Ohhhhh Don-na
Donna always wears stunning dresses and perfect pencil skirts that would make the most focused lawyer rubberneck, and she stuns again in lavender and later a charcoal number that should make you Donna fans weak in the knees. Gotta love the work that Avery Plewes does each and every episode in making business attire look razor sharp and sexy.
For those of you who enjoy all of the pieces and parts of a show, the score/soundtrack get a boost back to greatness with Futurama composer Christopher Tyng returning who scored the pilot episode and also episode 201 “She Knows.” My favorite number of his in “Blind-Sided” is this melancholic piano tune that underlines one of the episodes’ key sequences.
8. Great Shot!
In this same sequence with Tyng’s score playing in the background, there’s beautiful camera shot of Harvey talking to Donna against the reflection of the glass wall of his office, while looking over his shoulder. It’s one of these Shakespearean shots and a shout out to the series cinematographer.
9. How Low Will Louis Go?
There is probably no character that burst onto the scene this season more than Louis Litt. Hoffman played him so expertly, making us love him one minute and then he just crawls under your skin the next. Well, there are no limits to how low Louis will go to get his way and we think you’ll either be cheering for him or wretch at what he does next. Either way you’re gonna love it!
10. We’re Hiring
New hires are always trying to prove themselves by overachieving and overreaching. They take time to incorporate their flavor into the cauldron. Of course, everything is heightened at Pearson Hardman so expect hiring decisions to once again be a point of contention for the rest of Season 2.
11. Harvey, Have a Heart!
The always cold and calculated Harvey Specter has another opportunity to be compassionate; his reaction might surprise you.
Suits premieres tonight at 10/9c on USA Network.
