The Vampire Diaries — Season 4 Episode 2, ‘Memorial’ Score Card
After three seasons of The Vampire Diaries, team Mystic Falls finally had a chance to say goodbye to the fallen. Stefan, ever the sentimental type, had his friends light paper lanterns for all the people they had lost – including Elena’s parents and Elena.
Connor the New Menace in Town
Connor Jordan is the new supernatural hunter in town. He shot Tyler three times in Tyler’s home with a handgun and then hit him with rifle blast to the chest in the church. But, Connor is not just any vampire hunter. Jeremy, still discovering his resurrection powers, spotted some interesting tattoos on Connor’s right arm. He complimented Connor on his ink. However, the tattoos were invisible to normal eyes. Matt didn’t see them and Connor looked surprised by Jeremy’s statement. Does Connor know something about Jeremy’s abilities to talk to the dead? Also, what’s the deal with Connor’s special bullets?
Delena isn’t totally a done deal. Elena feasted on Damon’s blood, which for vampires is basically the equivalent of sex. Stefan wasn’t too thrilled when he heard the news. After Connor shot Damon a few times, Stefan decided to take the opportunity to land a power punch on his brother.
What’s the deal with Pastor Young
His mysterious letter to April suggest who knows what? Why did the pastor kill off the other council members and does that have anything to do with Connor? Perhaps Pastor Young used black magic to eventually come back more powerful and rid the town of the vampire threat. We’ve seen this before when Alaric switched on his dark alter ego and then turned into a undead vampire hunter.
Hey, it was great to see Alaric back, even if it was only for a brief cameo. Damon showed off his sentimental side by talking to Alaric’s tombstone. Then the episode ended with Alaric’s ghost saying, “I miss you too, buddy.”
