Remember Sons of Anarchy season 2, when SAMCRO erupted in a civil war? Jax ripped off his patch and let everyone know that he was going nomad. Gemma had to intervene, telling Jax the truth about Zobelle’s order to have AJ Weston rape her.
It brought Jax back into the fold. Then, Jax’s son was kidnapped. For the moment, the beef was squashed. Season 3 was about rescuing the Abel. Season 4 brought it all back. Jax learned the truth about JT.
Now, Jax sits at the head of the table he once tried to leave. Three members of the nomad squad Jax was going to join have united under Jax’s chapter.
Well, not really.
The truth about the home invasions was revealed in “Small World.” We all knew that GoG, Greg the Peg and Frankie Diamonds were handling the robberies. But the question remained, to what end?
We suspected Clay had some involvement in the robberies (Clay is behind every bad thing in Charming, right?), but now we know the truth. Clay is the leader of these three nomads.

From a story standpoint, I have no problem with Clay being part of the next iteration of SAMCRO’s continued civil war. He’s got to be one of the best villains on TV, right? I’d put him up there with the likes of Stringer Bell and Omar on The Wire, Walter White and Gus Fring on Breaking Bad, Lex Luthor on Smallville and – dare I say – Joffrey on Game of Thrones. I just hate that Jax didn’t kill Clay. Damn you rico.
My blood also boils knowing that Clay is back to 90% health, but is still playing the sympathy card on Juice. Growl.
Jax’s time at the head of the table has been a tumultuous few weeks. We lost Opie. While Sheriff Eli guns to take down the chapter, following Rita’s death, Clay’s fire will be spreading throughout Charming.
“Small World” gave us four deaths. Rita didn’t make it. Jax took revenge on the prison guard who placed bets on how long Opie would survive. Young Teller bashed in the his victim’s head with a snow globe (I wonder if whoever is handling the props on SOA will put that snow globe on Ebay? I’d be first in line to pick that up). The woman was collateral damage; her life was taken by Tig. Finally, Carla took her own life after trying to force Gemma to perform fellatio on Nero.
Reflection
- We got to see Unser rip his heart out to Gemma. He told her, “You’re gonna die alone. Just like me.” That’s right Unser, tell her why your mad. Nobody kisses Unser and leaves him in the corner.
- Otto told Tara to get on her knees if she wanted him to help the club. Then, said he’s not going to get on his knees either. Tara kept the truth from Jax. What is she plotting?
