A week after the release of Pokémon Black Version 2 and White Version 2, Nintendo was still celebrating with its fans. Just last week, not too far from New York Comic Con, Pokémon fans were treated to their own event full of gaming, swag, prizes and even a concert. Those who waited especially long to pick up the game the week prior at the Nintendo World Store and for the event itself that morning were given VIP treatment for their Pokémon enthusiasm. Snacks, drinks, and a guaranteed place to sit for the hardcorest of hardcore isn’t too shabby.
The event took place at SIR Stage 37, which is well-known as a popular venue in the music industry. It makes sense, because no expense was spared to bring Chicago rock band, I Fight Dragons to perform for all the attendees. Their use of original electronic sounds and nerd culture knowhow fit in very well for the crowd. Orange earplugs were given to everyone too – just in case the kiddies didn’t want to get their ear drums blown out.
New York Comic Con fans surely made up the bulk of the crowd, but a shuttle that ran every 30 minutes from Nintendo World Store and back also brought in a good amount of people. Pokémon Black Version 2 and White Version 2 T-shirts were given away throughout the day, as well as a DS pouch and download codes for Pokémon Dream Radar. Bigger prizes, like a 3DS, were awarded to those who won raffles, trivia questions and events such as mini dance contests with Pikachu. Yes, a man or woman dressed as a giant Pikachu makes everything better.

The event lasted a staggering 8 hours, wearing out even the most enthusiastic of partygoers. The hope is that now the craze of the launch has finally settled, and folks can finally relax and enjoy their newest Pokémon games.
