This Fall, Wikipad will enter the uphill tablet war by targeting core gamers.
The new, fully functional Android tablet, is a joint partnership with Gamestop and Wikipad, Inc. It’s heralded as the first tablet to come with a ready-to-go controller attachment. The Sony Tablet S worked with a standard PS3 controller, but required additional configuration to do so.
The new Wikipad controller tablet, proudly toting HD visuals, looks much like the Wii U controller. It will also support PlayStation Mobile platform.
The Android tablet positions itself in the next-generation of gaming, which many suspect will shift from the console to the tablet. With ballooning costs for development, tablet has offered a cheaper entry point for both consumers and development houses. Now, if only there were developers out there creating core games for the tablet which weren’t merely rehashes of existing IPs.
With the Microsoft Surface coming into the market, 2013 will definitely be the year of the tablet war. Wikipad will face off against the iPad and eventually the Surface for market share. The new Amazon Kindle Fire HD will continue to be a competitor for the iPad, but doesn’t have the same target audience as the Wikipad.
Where will your allegiances lie in the 2013 Tablet war?
