Tonight’s episode of Alphas is going to get a power boost from Summer Glau (Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) who guest stars to reprise her role as Skylar, the alpha with the power of understanding technology and inventing cool gadgets. Click on the trailer below and fill screen.
Dr. Rosen’s (David Strathairn) team visits a town inhabited by a community of alphas in search of Skylar (Glau) to help decipher or decode a device created by Stanton Parrish (John Pyper-Ferguson) that’s been used on Kat, and other alphas as seen in last week’s episode, “Gaslight.” Skylar’s help the team in the past, and invented a phone that helps Gary (Ryan Cartwright) decipher and distinguish different wavelengths. We got to see a little bit of how it works this season. Azita Ghanizada first told us about “Alphaville” back in Comic-Con:
“In a future episode, we go to find Skylar played by Summer Glau. There’s a whole town of alphas–we find this compound or commune or what would be the most natural place for hippie alphas. Something happens to Rachel that essentially shifts the way she handles her abilities.”
So there’s more to “Alphaville” than just Skylar, as Rachel and other alphas may be enlightened in this community. There’s no telling whether or not Stanton Parrish knows about this town or if he’s behind it. That’s something we’ll have to look for since every episode has had some Parrish or Red Flag element. Haven’s Kathleen Munroe also guest stars.
Now, we’ve been counting the days for Glau’s return to the show since and even hoped she would become a regular cast member. While she’s not a regular fixture to the series yet, this will be the first of three episodes Glau will appear in this season and you might notice that she looks noticeably different without the punky hair and neck tattoos. Maybe Skylar invented a makeover machine while she’s been gone?
Tune in tonight on Syfy at 8PM ET/PT with an encore viewing at 10PM.
