New ‘Man of Steel’ Footage Gets Crowds Psyched Before ‘Dark Knight Rises’

Warner Bros debuted the first teaser trailer for Man of Steel, the upcoming Superman reboot starring Henry Cavill, at theaters just before the start of The Dark Knight Rises.

If crowds weren’t already pumped to see the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, they were doubly amped when Nolan’s name was flashed on the screen with a producer credit during the Man of Steel teaser.

Although the teaser was only about a minute and a half long, accompanied by voice over, it showed a less flashy movie than most viewers would have expected from Zach Snyder – the director who delivered the fatal flub Sucker Punch to theaters in 2012. Needless to say, Snyder’s title card in the teaser only highlighted 300 and Watchmen, two movies that had a more positive reception from audiences.

One of the most noticeable differences in Cavill’s Clark Kent is that he’s wearing a beard, for a significant part of the teaser. It’s a definite change from the typically clean cut look we’ve become accustomed to thanks to actors like Chrisopher Reeves and Tom Welling (Smallville).

Check out the teaser below. The sonic boom at the end of the video got the crowd at my Dark Knight Rises screening – including myself – super psyched.

Man of Steel opens in theaters on June 14th, 2013. How psyched are you for the upcoming Superman reboot?
