Becoming One of Michonne’s Pets is Part of ‘The Walking Dead’ Experience at Comic-Con
Comic-Con is going to keep zombie fans in a frenzy, the entire weekend. The Walking Dead‘s executive producer and special effects supervisor extraordinaire, Greg Nicotero revealed on AMC’s Talking Dead with Chris Hardwick that one of the coolest booth experiences at this week’s Comic-Con will be, not surprisingly AMC’s Walking Dead booth. Find AMC’s booth when you head into the convention floor and you’ll find a lifelike recreation of Danai Gurira as the katanna-wielding Michonne with one of her “pets” chained to her. You’ll be able to place the other chain over your head and become her second pet for pictures, except you’ll be able to smile and wave to the camera unlike Michonne’s armless and jawless pets.
For more serious fans, they can try out the Walking Dead Escape course. For $75 you can go through 35-55 minutes of an obstacle course that’s been created out of a portion of Petco Park. The concourse of the ballpark will be infested with zombies where adventurous ones will crawl, climb, hide, and slide to safety. This seriously sounds like an awesome experience. Tickets can be purchased online or in person, but supplies are limited. And if you’d rather just watch the carnage, you can view people running through the zombie gauntlet for $15. Trying to run the course will get an exclusive variant of Walking Dead #100.
• Also Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori Grimes) will be participating in Entertainment Weekly’s “Powerful Women in Pop Culture” panel with Kristin Bauer van Straten (True Blood), Kristin Kreuk (Beauty and the Beast), Nikki Reed (Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 2), and Anna Torv (Fringe). 4:15 – 5:15 pm Ballroom 20.
• Cryptozoic Entertainment is hosting both Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and Steven Yeun (Glenn) at their pop-up store on 411 Market Street to see The Walking Dead Board Game, Season One Trading Cards, and the new Comic Book Trading Cards. Kirkman will meet fans and sign autographs Thursday, July 12, from noon to 1 pm Yeun on Saturday, July 14, 2 – 4 pm
• And you can always purchase the Walking Dead comics at the Image-Skybound booth including issue #100, which hits comic shops this week. There will be eight variant covers total (nine if you count the one from the obstacle course), but wait there’s more variants and exclusives for the rich and undead…
The Diamond Comics booth (#2401) will have copies of the “Retailer Exclusive Edition” of issue #100 from Image Comics, as well as The Walking Dead Minimates Rick and Zombie 2-pack at booth (#2607). Over at the Image Comics/Skybound booth (#2729), The Walking Dead Michonne Bloody Poncho variant action figure, The Walking Dead 100 Vannen Watch, and the extremely limited edition of The Walking Dead hardcover Compendium which collects the first 48 issues of the comic.
