Time travel movies always tend to worry about paradoxes and altering the past, but sometimes you “don’t want to talk about time travel.”
The latest trailer for Looper, a story about a hit man (Bruce Willis) who is sent back in time 30 years to be killed by his younger self (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), gets past the time travel questions and focuses on a very real situation – a man must confront the demons of his past.
The opening scene gives us a taste of Writer/Director Rian Johnson’s tone, slow paced with short punchy dialogue. It’s an excellent introduction to the obligatory guns and explosions that come with any movie starring Willis.
Although many movie goers may think that August signals the end of great movies – with the trail-end of “summer blockbusters” – Looper stands to debunk that theory. At the very least, it looks like a very cool movie with some intense scenes. Gordon-Levitt pulling out a shotgun on Willis and Willis showing up with two FN P90 compact assault rifles are reason enough to look out for this September film.
Looper also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Noah Segan, Piper Perabo, and Jeff Daniels. See the trailer below:
Looper hits theaters on September 28th, 2012.
