Super Smash Bros may be undergoing a major facelift – at least on the development side. Nintendo of America announced that Namco Bandai would be taking over the development from HAL Laboratory.

This could be a major move by Nintendo in the wake of Sony’s Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, which features similar gameplay to past Super Smash Bros titles, but features Sony’s character roster instead.

Kid Icarus team Sora will be partnered on development, which will continue to be spearheaded by creator Masahiro Sakurai. Yoshito Higuchi will serve as the game director.
