The Teen Titans are coming back to Cartoon Network. However, instead of action mixed in with a touch of lighthearted Beast Boy and Cyborg comedy, the new Teen Titans Go! series will focus primarily on humor.
Recently, The Teen Titans made a triumphant return to the cable network in the DC Nation Hour, a Saturday cartoon block which included Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice. Robin, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy and Cyborg were featured in several DC Animated Shorts, reminding us just how funny and cherished these characters were.
Voice talents from the original series will reprise there roles, including: Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Scott Menville as Robin, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Tara Strong as Raven and Hynden Walch as Starfire. The new series will be executive produced by Sam Register (Green Lantern: The Animated Series, The Looney Tunes Show, Teen Titans), with Michael Jelenic (ThunderCats, Batman: The Brave and the Bold) and Aaron Horvath (MAD, El Tigre) as producers.
Here’s the sales pitch for the sure from Warner Bros Animation and Cartoon Network:
They may be super heroes who save the world every day … but somebody still has to do the laundry! With the ability to turn into any animal or detach their robotic limbs, teenage pranks reach a whole new level. And even super heroes have to take Driver’s Ed. to get a license – especially after wrecking the Batmobile on an unauthorized joy ride to impress a girl!
As much as I loved the initial series, especially the Robin and Deathstroke dynamic, I also enjoyed the comedy as well. The DC Animated shorts reminded me just how much I missed it so I can’t wait for the new series to hit the air.
Teen Titans Go! is set for launch in 2013.
