The countdown to the CW’s next big comic inspired series, Arrow, continues with an all new extended trailer. The 3:37 trailer features Stephen Amell (as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow) and Katie Cassidy (as Dinah ‘Laurel’ Lance).
At Upfronts, the CW showed off some of the action we’d see in Arrow, including Oliver Queen’s training regime once he got back from being stranded on a desert island (please, no Gilligan’s Island jokes). Queen was doing climbing pullups as well as shooting tennis balls.

The extended preview shows us more of Queen’s backstory. He returns from the island with 20 percent of his back burned as well as 12 broken bones. However, while the world about him wonders if he’s capable of taking over Queen industries, he’s busy plotting his entry into the pantheon of heroes.
There were a few interesting moments in the trailer:
- Queen’s mansion is vaguely reminiscent of Lex Luthor’s (Michael Rosenbaum) mansion on Smallville.
- Oliver and Dinah have a quiet intimate moment followed by some harsh follow-up words from Queen. This is the first time we’ve seen the relationship side of the show. It will be interesting to see how they balance the action with the ensuing romance story.
- There are definitely a few one liners in the trailer. Queen is asked, “What happened to you on the island?” Queen replies, “A lot.” It has a “BOOM” feeling to it. I almost imagined him saying, “A lot… Mutha-Fuuuuu*^a!” Hopefully, the actual moment doesn’t feel as pushed when it plays out within the episode.
