‘Girls’ Episode 7 Review: ‘Crackcident’ is Just as Funny as it Sounds

In an attempt to find the hottest party ever, the girls hit Bushwick’s party scene in one of the best episodes yet. Marnie (Allison Williams) finally unraveled and it wasn’t pretty, Shoshanna (Zosia Mammet) accidentally and hilariously smoked crack. And Lena Dunham may have accomplished the impossible: She made Adam (Adam Driver) likeable.

The hottest party of the weekend was at a warehouse in Bushwick, Brooklyn and everyone they’ve ever met was in attendance. Marnie took the opportunity to see how her ex, Charlie (Christopher Abbott), was doing. All was going well until she found out he’s already seeing another girl.  Marnie completely lost it; she ended up complaining about the situation to anyone who would listen. She even cornered Hannah’s ex, Elijah (Andrew Rannells). Thankfully he told Marnie how selfish she is, and then smacked her in the face. She deserved it, Marnie seemed like she had it together at first but she’s just as selfish and confused as Hannah. At least Hannah is aware of her own vices.

Shoshanna had her best episode ever. While waiting in line for the bathroom she smoked a glass cigarette of crack. As if we didn’t already have a hard time keeping up with Shoshanna add some crack and she turned into a verbal tornado. Instead of staying with her “crack spirit guide” Ray (Alex Karpovsky), Shoshanna ran away though the back streets of Bushwick. When Ray finally found her she attacked him for following her.  Watching tiny, pants-less Shoshanna take down Ray was one of the funniest moments of the season. Eventually she realized Ray was only trying to help her. Maybe Ray will save her from her virginity as well.

Meanwhile, Hannah (Lena Dunham) saw Adam (Adam Driver) at the party and even though he hasn’t called or answered her texts she still wanted to see him. Then Hannah learned from one of his friends that Adam is in AA. She was upset that she didn’t know much about him. When she confronted Adam about it he said the only reason he hasn’t told her anything about himself is because Hannah never asked. Turns out the reason we thought Adam was so terrible was because he thought Hannah wasn’t interested in knowing him. Talk about major miscommunication.  After a little fight Adam bluntly asked Hannah is she wanted him to be her boyfriend. Hannah’s response was a huge child like grin that every girl deserves to have at one point in her life.

There are only a few episodes of Girls left but this season is getting better with each one. Lena Dunham has successfully created multi-dimensional characters that you can love and hate at the same time. She’s also somehow made unbelievable story lines, like accidental crack smoking, relatable. Sure we may not have accidentally smoked crack but we’ve all had to hunt down a friend who tried to escape a party. Dunham has proven her talent and I’m excited to see what she comes up with for the rest of the season and what she plans on doing next.

They don’t “…hit…” Brooklyn.  It’s where they LIVE! The show has yet to film outside of Brooklyn. DUH. Gosh, do a bit of research before writing stuff.
