The CW presented several new shows at its Upfront celebration in New York City this month. As fans of the CW’s previous Smallville series, starring Tom Welling and Justin Hartley, we were extremely looking forward to the first trailer for Arrow, based on the DC Comics’ character Green Arrow. The series stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Colin Donnell as Tommy, and Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance.

In the 12th Team Focus Blast Off, BuzzFocus Community Manager Ernie Estrella and I discuss the first trailer for Arrow (you can see it here). We explore potential story arcs, secondary heroes and villains we’d like to see and potential politically influenced story arcs. We also dive into Arrow’s vast array of arrow weapons, ranging from flash bang arrows to boxing glove arrows.

Also appearing in the series are David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, with Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.

Listen to the latest Team Focus Blast Off and let us know your thoughts on The CW’s Arrow.

Don’t bother watching anything on the CW, it’s a struggling network that will cancel your show at a moment’s notice.  They don’t have a budget to really pull off a good show with special effects, so I don’t think any of these shows will do well this year.  This show as the others, will get cancelled sooner or later.

In Smallville he wore goggles. But it didn’t look very much realistic. I can see Justin Hartley through the goggles. I think everyone can.
So if Stephen Amell were to wear those domino mask, they would look silly. Just because hes wearing a mask, doesnt mean people cant recognise him.

The trailers look good. The production looks pretty good but there are things that can be improved upon. The main actor looks like a great fit though, really looks the part for Ollie and a street level superhero but he needs the vandyke. Here’s hoping he will eventually spot that in the actual series.

I think the lack of a mask and Black Canary not being Black Canary is depressing. I can’t see how someone who is a celebrity superstar can go around without a mask stopping crimes and no one will know who he is. It’s silly. It was dumb in Smallville and I thought this would be better. Smallville took the superhero story and took all the cool superhero elements out of it. The only good episodes where ones like the Justice Society episodes by Geoff Johns, where they actually allowed the superheros to be superheroes. Green Arrow is an awesome character and I no doubt that Amell will do his best, but it sounds like the people in charge didn’t learn anything from the success of Avengers……people like their superheroes to stay with the original story…and stay in masks. Seeing Oliver Queen running around in a green hoodie is not Green Arrow, its Oliver Queen in a hoodie. After about the second episode, everyone would know who he is and the show is over.
