After a few lackluster movies, including Bad Teacher and The Green Hornet, Cameron Diaz is getting back into the limelight in Ridley Scott’s heavy hitter film, The Counselor.
Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz are already signed to the project. Fassbender stars in the title role as a lawyer who has watched one too many episodes of Breaking Bad. As a successful legal counselor, he tries to enter the drug business but soon finds out it can have dangerous consequences.
Scott tapped Fassbender to star in The Counselor after working with the actor on Prometheus. It was a move similar to that of leading directors Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese, who also reuse talent. Scorsese has used Leonardo DiCaprio in multiple films include The Departed and Shutter Island, while Nolan tapped Joseph Gordon-Levitt to be play a strong supporting role in The Dark Knight Rises after the actor appeared in Inception.
Deadline reports that the The Counselor is “No Country For Old Men on steroids.”
