Showtime has announced that it has cast Ray Stevenson (Rome, Thor) in a prominent bad-guy role to face off against Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall). According to EW, Stevensonwill play the leader of a Russian organized crime syndicate.

It’s Spring, which means the producers over at Dexter are starting to flesh out their story plan for the upcoming Fall season. One can only imagine how Dexter will cross paths with a Russian crime lord. Perhaps his blood work will lead to the incrimination of Stevenson’s character, putting himself in danger? All we can do at this point is speculate.

Of course, the more pressing question is what direction the show will take overall now that Dexter’s sister Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) knows that he has killed at least one person. Season 6 ended with Deb gasping as Dexter killed Travis Marshall, finally catching a glimpse of how he spends his nights. The series has toyed with this discovery through the years and Season 7 will be unique for that fact. I’m assuming that pseudo-incestuous storyline will be dropped as Deb tries to deal with Dexter, the murderer.

Dexter Season 7 is slated to premiere on September 30.

I’m hoping it doesn’t go in a similar direction as “Dallas” and have Debra thinking she is waking up from a dream~ Due to Dexter injecting her with his needle!
