Is it possible for Boardwalk Empire to get any better?
I don’t normally get too excited over teaser trailers, but the Season 3 tease that HBO just released has me counting down the days until the Fall premiere.
From the trailer’s ominous tone and its commanding dialogue spewed by Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi), it’s clear that the crescendo reached in the Season 2 finale is only the beginning of this gangster’s tale. Now that Nucky has had his kill cherry popped (damn, Jimmy), I’m expecting him to enter full on Tony Soprano mode, unhinged and a little bit crazy (minus the shrink).
Though seriously, I’m interested in seeing how the show’s dynamic changes with Jimmy out of the picture. There’s plenty of well-known and obscure gangsters to go around, but the father/like-a-son dynamic between Nucky and Jimmy was really the centerpiece of the show in the first two seasons. But the new life being injected to the show will help with Bobby Cannavale being added as Nucky’s rival and Stephen Root joining as a special investigator. Sound awesome? It should.
Take a gander for yourself – Boardwalk Empire’s third season premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, but, if history is any indication, it will premiere in late September.
