The latest trailer for The Dictator, starring Sacha Baron Cohen, reveals the “lost in America” plot for Cohen’s new comedy.

The trailer features Cohen’s Hugo co-star Ben Kingsley as well as John C. Reilly and Anna Faris. In it, General Aladeen (Cohen) travels to America, but is kidnapped by Reilly.

Reilly shaves the General’s beard, making him look like an ordinary American instead of the “cruel” world leader that he is. Now, the General must get a job and rebuild his life since the world and his own people don’t recognize him without his trademark beard.

Despite the oddball Dictator premise, the trailer appears to be more timid than some of Cohen’s other films. Perhaps he’s aiming to reach a broader audience, while still “pushing the envelope” on stereotypes.

The Dictator is directed by Larry Charles. The film is set to open in theaters on May 11, 2012. Megan Fox also stars.
