in DVD/BR Announcements, Film & Movies

At long last, the other trilogy that made Harrison Ford a household name is finally coming to Blu-ray. I’m talking about Indiana Jones of course and I’m also deliberately forgetting the fourth film in the series (Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), which is part of the franchise in name only, not spirit.

In any event,  you can own Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade in what the Lucasfilm press release calls “the ultimate experience.” The release will not only contain all four movies, but also a “best of” collection of documentaries, interviews, featurettes and a few new “surprises.”

There’s no specific release date announced, the press release simply states that high-def Indy is coming this Fall. Hopefully, this release will be devoid of any Lucas ‘additions’, edits or overall retcon. Please, oh please – just leave the movies in their original pristine glory.

Press release:

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (February 29, 2012) – The man with the hat is back – and looking better than ever! The world’s favorite globe-trotting archaeologist is, at long last, embarking on his greatest adventure – when The Complete Indiana Jones Blu-ray Collection comes to Blu-ray Disc from Lucasfilm Ltd. and Paramount Home Media Distribution. The Complete Indiana Jones Blu-ray Collection will be excavated in the fall of 2012 and will include all four of Indy’s thrilling adventures, using the highest possible high definition picture and audio presentation – along with a “best of” collection of documentaries, interviews, featurettes and a few new surprises.
