Sons of Anarchy…the Video Game?

It’s one thing to watch vicariously as the Sons of Anarchy fight for Motor Club dominance in Charming, California, but to actually take control of Jax Teller and crew’s SAMCRO charter? That possibility may be near.

SOA showrunner Kurt Sutter took to Twitter to mention the possibility of a video game adaptation of the FX bicycle club series:

Before you start revving your figurative engines about the possibilities, Sutter’s next tweet reined in expectations a bit:

A high-end browser based game sounds a bit more doable in the time frame that Sons of Anarchy will still be on the air (it’s officially renewed for two more seasons). Showtime’s Dexter has taken the browser-based game approach with its Facebook game Slice of Life, which followed a clunky iOS based version, Dexter the Game.

I’m sure the first thought of many upon hearing about the possibility of a game is a blown-out console version. As Sutter also points out, said games are time-consuming and ridiculously expensive to bring to the market. Even so, technically, the biker club game thing has been done before. Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 4 touched on the lifestyle with their DLC title for Grand Theft Auto IV, The Lost and Damned. Like SOA, that game brought many aspects of motorcycle clubs to the light for entertainment purposes – the crime, the women and the dangerous inter-club relations that make for good drama.

Regardless of the scale, an SOA game sounds like a good proposition – let’s all hope that the game is just as entertaining as the show.
