Shameless Season 2 has focused on the Gallagher family in a state of transition.
Now that Sheila (Joan Cusack) has re-entered the economy, she’s one step closer to finding out the truth about Frank (William H. Macy). Unfortunately for Frank, that means that his days of living off of the Jackson family are almost over. So, he’s latched on to Dottie, the local butherface with a bad heart, in hopes of finding a new sugar momma to live off. Frank hopes to live off of Dottie when his relationship with Sheila comes to an end or take Dottie’s financial benefits if she before her heart transplant.
Fiona (Emmy Rossum) no longer has the emotional outlet she had in season one with Steve (Justin Chatwin). She’s been been dating wealthy men she meets at the club, but they feel to fulfill her in the way Steve did.
Fiona is also dealing with Debbie (Emma Kenney) growing pains. Recently, Liam has began touching himself. Debbie doesn’t want to be in the same room as her younger brother now that she’s a “woman”, especially if Liam is going to be touching himself while looking at her. Coincidentally, there is a similar story arc on Californication with Charlie Runkle’s (Evan Handler) son.
Lip (Jeremy Allen White) is slowly realizing that sex isn’t everything in a relationship. Thanks to a relationship lesson from Kevin (Steve Howey), Lip now realizes that Jody (Zach McGowan) and Karen (Laura Wiggins) have a stronger relationship because they don’t have sex.
As for Ian (Cameron Monaghan) he’s set on West Point. Although Lip is helping Ian to study, he doesn’t want to see his brother end up in the military. Ian’s relationship with Mickey (Noel Fisher) has been mostly sexual so far. However, it looks as though Ian may eventually want more out of Mickey. Unfortunately, Mickey is still in the closet and holds back whenever anything outside of sex is discussed.
When it comes to TV neighbors, Kev and Veronica (Shanola Hampton) continue to top the charts. The addition of Kev’s snack truck has added some humorous moments so far. Also, it’s just great to see how their foster child takes care of them. She farms weed and gives them shaves. Who could ask for more from the foster care system?
Check out this clip from Shameless Episode 2.3: “I’ll Light a Candle for You Every Day”. It features Kev and Veronica on the verge of a new business deal.
