‘The X Factor’ Review: The Final Five Surprise

What a fascinating night of The X Factor results! Just fascinating. From two actually very engaging performances to an evening of jaw dropping results… The X Factor delivered one of the most unforgettable results shows thus far. The results were truly mind blowing.

If you thought the Michael Jackson theme was over, you were mistaken. The final seven kicked the show off with a group number of “Man in the Mirror” and this was actually one of the best group numbers that has been produced. Surprise, surprise. Many viewers were later introduced to 22 year old British rapper, Tinie Tempah who performed his latest hit, ‚ÄúPass Out.” If anybody enjoyed it, Nicole Scherzinger did. She rocked out to the entire performance. And that is why she is winning over even more fans. She is loving music and loving life and that is contagious. Whatever it is she is drinking, I want some. Her excitement for Tempah’s performance may have also earned him more points for viewers unfamiliar with his work. But the song was actually catchy and quick to get you moving, so it will have no problem selling to The X Factor crowd.

The biggest shocker of the night though came as the first act was announced as safe…and it was Chris Rene. Rene seemed to easily be predicted as one of the acts that would be getting the ax this week. But some bodies voted a ton of times and here he is in the final five with Melanie Amaro, Rachel Crow, and Josh Krajxik. So how much worse could the results get? Much worse because with a double elimination, at least one person was going to be robbed of their spot in the final five due to Rene making the cut. In this case, knowing what comes ahead didn’t make the results hurt any less.

Double Elimination this week consisted of two acts performing against each other and one act immediately getting the ax. Getting the lowest votes this week, Astro was sent packing. Boos were heard loud and clear but America made the right choice. Astro may be a star but he won’t shine his brightest until he grows up some more. Cut to a distraught Drew and nervous Marcus Canty who had to fight for their spot in the final five. Drew took on a heart wrenching rendition of “Listen to Your Heart.” She was shaking and holding back tears. It took all that she had to give that performance, nervous little wreck she was. Poor Drew. Marcus Canty sang his heart out as well with “Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)” seemingly holding back his tears too. Talk about a battle. The performances this week had viewers on the edges of their seats. It was intense. Canty and Drew have very loyal fan bases, so either artist going home was a kick in the stomach. Although Drew’s elimination gave her a head start in putting her debut album together.

Simon Cowell admitted his mistake in choosing the wrong song last night, something not upbeat with no visuals. He made a plea to the mentors to save Drew but it wasn’t enough. All three mentors voted against her. Simon Cowell’s anger came to a boiling point, so much so that he did not even want to speak. Nor did a heart broken Drew. But she did manage to share her faith and that faith is what is going to make everything alright. She may be out of the competition, but Drew’s music career has only just begun. With the finals this month, it’s time to get down to the finals. Melanie Amaro, Rachel Crow, and Josh Krajxik are my final three. Who are you hoping to see in the final three? Who are you hoping will win?
