NBC has set their mid-season 2012 lineup and it includes the premieres of four new shows: the Steven Spielberg-produced broadway drama, Smash; Are You There, Chelsea? starring comedienne Chelsea Handler; the new legal drama, The Firm based on John Grisham’s best-selling novel; and the reality competition show, Fashion Star hosted and executive-produced by 90′s supermodel, Elle Macpherson. Make note that Whitney, Up All Night, Rock Center with Brian Williams and Harry’s Law all get new day and time changes and the series finale of Chuck. The Voice, 30 Rock, Celebrity Apprentice and You Do You Think You Are? return to the lineup. Another show that debuted this fall that has secured a lineup spot but did not change day or timeslot was the fairy tale procedural Grimm.

Currently absent from the schedule are critical favorites but ratings strugglers, Community and Prime Suspect. Averaging just 3.69 million viewers and a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic, Community has been assured a return to the lineup at a date to be determined. Prime Suspect will air the remaining episodes that were produced including six additional scripts that were picked up in October before making a final decision on its future. Prime Suspect has not fared well in its Thursday night 10PM time slot finishing behind ABC’ Private Practice and CBS’ The Mentalist. Four other new shows including the eagerly anticipated Awake, BFFs, Bent, and Off the Rockers have yet to land a spot on the schedule.

Due to no demand, The Playboy Club will not return from the dead.
