The con continues on.
In an expected move, USA Network ordered 16 more episodes of their caper “dramedy” White Collar, renewing Jeff Eastin’s hit-show for a fourth season. White Collar is is currently finishing production of the second half of its third season when fans get to see what will happen to Agent Peter Burke’s wife Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen) who was kidnapped in the summer finale. That cliffhanger was viewed by 4.3 million total viewers.
Speaking of cliffhangers, how about another round of applause for that giant skydive off a New York skyscraper. Or perhaps we should commend the bravery of the writers to cause some friction within the bromance shared between leads Peter (Tim DeKay), Neal Caffery (Matt Bomer) and Mozzie (Willie Garson) with a storyline that resulted in a tug of war. Peter continued his rehabilitation of Neal amidst suspicion of his possible involvement of stealing a large cache of stolen art–one that Mozzie actually took and tried to lure Neal away with hopes of their last big score.
The current season also successfully expand the scope of the show by opening the lives of the entire cast with feature episodes for Mozzie, Agent Diana Barrigan (Marhsa Thomason), Agent Clinton Jones (Sharif Atkins), and Sara Ellis (Hilarie Burton). The result was ten lean episodes, with not a single weak one in the bunch. It’s a big reason for the third season averaging 3.9 million viewers at its Tuesday night 9PM time slot, and we congratulate Jeff Eastin and company on earning another season to further one of TV’s most underrated series.
The final six episodes of the third season of White Collar will begin airing in January 2012.
