matt bomer white collar magic mikeHold onto your fedoras White Collar fans, Matt Bomer is the latest to join the cast of Magic Mike, Steven Soderbergh’s next film that will follow a cast of statuesque men who will portray male strippers. Bomer is the latest addition to an ensemble cast that includes Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer and Channing Tatum whose real life experiences as a male stripper with the stage name of “Chan Crawford” became the motivation and inspiration for the film’s narrative. Oddly enough McConaughey may keep his clothes on more than usual since his character owns the bar where much of the story takes place. Magic Mike will begin filming in September and be released in 2012.

Tatum plays Magic Mike who teaches Pettyfur’s character the ropes of managing the male stripper routine and art of hustling money. It’s not known for what Bomer’s role is going to be, but I am sure he’s not keeping his body under a three piece suit–not for long anyway. I’ll also place a wager that a certain large percentage of the White Collar fan base will be quite interested in the film and whether or not Soderbergh will play it legit and honest with some full frontal nudity!

I wouldn’t hold your breath though Bomer fans, Soderbergh also made the film, The Girlfriend Experience, which was about a high-priced call girl starring adult film star Sasha Grey, which only had one quick nude scene. I’ll add it was a really great little indie film–in my opinion anyway.  Maybe Soderbergh will throw a bone and convert this puppy to 3D. One thing is for sure is that the audience will be drunk with all of those six packs running around. Maybe this film should be renamed  The Beverage Cart?

Seriously though, this is Bomer’s second feature film project since starring in the USA hit con-show as he is starring in the futuristic sci-fi thriller, In Time with Olivia Wilde, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, Johnny Galecki, Pettyfer, and Justin Timberlake. In Time will be released on October 28. White Collar fans can complain all they want about the break in USA’s schedule, they’ve given Bomer the ability to increase his, well, for the lack of a more appropriate word, “exposure.”

Anyone lining up at the box office yet?
