Raylan Givens is going to be protecting Winona for a lot longer. Natalie Zea signed a new deal Thursday with FX to stay on Justified for its third season. Zea plays Winona Hawkins, the ex-wife of U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens played by Timothy Olyphant.
Zea will also have a multiple episode arc on the upcoming fourth season of Californication. She will play a new love interest of David Duchovny’s Hank Moody. But cable TV viewers aren’t the only ones who get to enjoy Zea, as she will appear in the pilot episode of CBS’s Person of Interest starring Michael Emerson (Lost), Jim Caviezel (The Prisoner) Taraji P. Henson (Larry Crowne) which is being produced by J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan. Deadline broke the news.
Winona was a character in the background of Justified for most of season one, but in this past season she was an important character as she was not only Raylan’s love interest, but they started to have talks of moving out of Lexington, Kentucky and Raylan leaving the US Marshals. However Winona is strapped to what is proving to be tricky divorce with her pathetic second husband, Gary Hawkins (William Ragsdale). In a desperate move, she tried to get away with stealing a large sum of cash from the evidence locker that set off a chain of events that put Raylan in a lot of heat. Winona also revealed in the season two finale she’s pregnant.
Some speculated that she might get caught in the cross-hairs by the end of season two but Zea inking a new deal means Winona will be stuck in the Bluegrass State longer than what she planned and that Glynco will have to wait. We can assume that the re-emergence of bad Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) will make things difficult for Raylan to leave, and against her wishes, stay with the U.S. Marshalls while she’s in his motel room, barefoot and pregnant.
