The tumultuous reign of Rodrigo Borgia (Jeremy Irons) is heading for war. Both the Pope’s daughter Lucrezia (Holliday Grainger) and son Cardinal Cesare Borgia (François Arnaud) have resorted to foul acts of sabotage and murder to win their love. In “The Borgias in Love,” Giovanni Sforza’s (Ronan Vibert) stable boy altered Sforza’s saddle so that the ruling leader would fall and inevitably break his leg, while Cesare took revenge on a Baron for calling his mother a “whore.” Now, Lucrezia will have her stable boy and Cesare his Baroness (Ruta Gedmintas).
While the Borgias children are acting out of interests of the heart and loins, the Pope has shifted his eyes towards quelling a potential French attack brought about by his rival Giuliano Della Rovere (Colm Feore). Entourage star Emmanuelle Chriqui joins the cast as Princess Sancia of Naples. In The Borgias Episode 1.6, “The French King,” The Pope will propose a marital alliance between Sancia and his youngest son youngest son Joffre (Aiden Alexander) to thwart France’s invasion.
Story:
Della Rovere reaches France and strikes a bargain with its ruler to invade Italy and install him on the Papal throne in exchange for control of Naples; Rodrigo attempts to thwart the invasion through an alliance by marrying his youngest son Joffre to Princess Sancia of Naples (guest star Emmannuelle Chriqui), but Juan nearly sabotages the plan by seducing his prospective sister-in-law.
