‘Dancing With the Stars’ Results: Sugar Ray’s Footwork Not Sweet Enough

It didn’t happen frequently in his storied boxing career, but Sugar Ray Leonard didn’t make it past Round 3 in Dancing With the Stars.

The former pugilist became the third casualty of this season of DWTS, bowing out with professional dancing partner Anna Trebunsakaya after failing to get the votes necessary to beat out fellow bottom two star, Kendra Wilkinson and surprisingly in-jeopardy couple Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas.

Leonard received a decent score on Monday night’s ‘Nutcracker’ Viennese waltz with 21 out of 30 points while Wilkinson was at the bottom of the pack with 18 points. Of course, the judges scores only mean so much; the fan’s votes are what ultimately sent Leonard home. Given Wilkinson’s paltry scores and seemingly apathetic attitude towards the competition this week, it seemed like a sure bet that she’d be getting the boot this week.

Sugar Ray seemed to be having a ball out there dancing, bringing all types of enthusiasm to his performances. And when it came to losing, he handled defeat well, triumphantly adding “I put up a good fight, and I will cherish this moment.”
