Gossip Girl Episode 4.18 Still Gallery: Chair vs. Dair Sidelined for van der Woodsen Drama
For the past month, Gossip Girl fans have been raging war online to see which relationship should take the forefront going into the Gossip Girl Season 4 finale (read the debate).
Chair fans yearn for the return of Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair (Leighton Meester), if only to see them become even more sexually frustrated. On the other hand, several fans are looking out for Dair fireworks. Dan (Penn Badgley) and Blair ended the last episode with a kiss to see if they had chemistry. Some fans are looking for this to be the new Upper East side Montague vs Capulet romance, while other fans just want to see something different. There’s only so much you can do with Chair before the sexual frustration just leaves you frustrated.
Although we’re sure that Chuck will go after Blair for solace, further trying to intercede if even the vaguest hint of a Humphrey comes close to kissing his fated bride to be, nothing immediate will happen in the Dair romance in Episode 4.18, “The Kids Stay in the Picture.” With only 5 episodes left in season 4, the creative team will be pulling out all the stops to drum up confidence for Gossip Girl Season 5. They’re bringing back William van der Woodsen (Billy Baldwin) to once again thrust a wedge between Rufus (Matthew Settle) and his wife, which would make a potential Dair romance even more of a Romeo and Juliet story. And, we’ll be seeing more of the van der Woodsen family. CeCe (guest star Caroline Lagerfelt) and Lily’s sister, Carol (guest star Sheila Kelley), will be showing up as well as Carol’s hidden daughter Charlie (Kaylee DeFer).
What is it about the van der Woodsen’s and hidden children anyway? I believe this sounds vaguely reminiscent of the Season 2 finale, where we learned of Lily and Rufus’ “other” son. That having been said, thoughts of Dair seem even more welcome than before. We need some new plot twists and romances to shake things up. If all else fails, bring back Hilary Duff for a threesome. Oh wait, Duff is coming back for the finale! Shhhh… There goes Dair.
How would you like to see Season 4 end?
