Another casting has been confirmed for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. Juno Temple, who had been long rumored to play a part in the Batman sequel, was Variety/Showblitz was confirmed today. Although no official role has been mentioned, word is that it will be a “street-smart Gotham girl.”
Temple joins another recent casting, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who was confirmed early this week. Like Temple, Levitt’s role has not been named. When news broke of Levitt’s addition, many believed it to be Alberto Falcone but that was soon denied, sending everyone back into speculation mode theorizing everyone from Falcone, Riddler, Nightwing, to Bruce Wayne’s cabana boy. Okay, that last one was my bad attempt at a joke but my point is until roles are confirmed, the speculation will continue and I’m sure DC Comics and Warner Brothers don’t mind at all.
If I’m a betting man–and I am–and if all of the supposed reports are true, my wager is on Catwoman’s juvenile prostitute friend, Holly Robinson (one of my personal favorite supporting characters residing in Gotham City). Again, that’s just my guess and I would imagine that her character will be a supporting one given Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, and Tom Hardy will all be sharing the lead spotlight. That doesn’t mean she won’t be important given how important other supporting actors like Morgan Freeman, Maggie Gyllenhall, and Michael Caine all have been in the last two films.
The 21-year old Temple is the daughter of documentary filmmaker Julien Temple and has been in The Other Boleyn Girl, Atonement, Notes on a Scandal and she will star in the upcoming swash-buckling film, The Three Musketeers. Also track down Dirty Girl and Kaboom for some of her better work.
Principal shooting for The Dark Knight Rises will begin early this summer and is scheduled for a release date of July 20, 2012.
Who do you think Temple and Gordon-Levitt will play and why?
