Thor Chris HemsworthIt took a looong time but finally, we have a great Thor trailer. I’ve been skeptical ever since the first teasers went up. The Comic-Con footage was just a jumble of scenes thrown together. I realize that there’s a fish-out-water element about Thor and this may be extreme but there was some real concern we would get a more polished version of Earth Girls Are Easy or dare I say it, Encino Man! I’m joking of course because I have faith in Kenneth Branagh but it was hard not to be skeptical.

The Super Bowl trailer left me feeling the same, but this, this changes things. This trailer is a real glance at how the film will unfold without major plot spoilers. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) looked larger than life, we get an excellent look at Loki (Tom Hidddleston) in helmet, our vision of Asgard gets expanded and a well-balanced tone looks to be present that should herd in a broad crowd on opening weekend.

My only gripes with the footage is that a stun gun could bring Thor down, but again without the context we don’t know how much he was weakened when he was banished to Earth. I also wished the Destroyer to have been shown less so that he had a magnificent entrance the first time you see him in the film. And I’m still not convinced I should see this in 3D, although a large IMAX screen does look to be essential to appreciate the scale of some of these scenes. Enough of my babble, enjoy the trailer.
