This fall Sons of Anarchy returns for Season 3, and fans of SAMCRO will be wondering how series creator Kurt Sutter plans to bring all of the plot lines together after the audacious Season 2 finale. Season 1 ended with a rift in the SAMCRO family after Donna’s accidental death; the result was the civil war between Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman) and Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) in Season 2. The second season of Sons of Anarchy expanded on several character arcs that culminated in a fractured SAMCRO. The motorcycle club’s queen, Gemma (Katey Sagal), is on the run. Jax’s baby has been kidnapped by the Irish. Also, Ethan Zobelle (Adam Arkin) escaped SAMCRO vindication. In Sons of Anarchy Season 3, the series’ writers will have their work cut out for them to top their ambitious second season.
Here’s what fans will be looking forward to:
No More Half Sack
Half-Sack Epps (Johnny Lewis) died a Prospect, trying in vain to save Tara (Maggie Siff) and Jax’s son Able from Cameron Hayes (Jamie McShane). Fans were hoping that Half-Sack may still be alive, but unfortunately, it looks like Lewis requested to be written off the show. Even though he was only a Prospect, Half-Sack will forever live on as a SAMCRO legend.
Flash Forward
Chances are season 3 will begin sometime after the events of the Season 2 finale. This time dash will give the writers a chance to take SAMCRO in a much darker direction. Throughout Seasons 1 and 2, we’ve always pictured Jax taking SAMCRO towards a brighter “legit” future. However, losing his son will most likely take Jax away from his father’s allegiance and leave him embracing Morrow-doctrine. Also, this gives the writers a chance to work with a non-baby centered script. It will be easier to script around a four-year old child, than a baby.
Mayan Revenge
Alvarez took several loses trying to protect Ethan Zobelle. We will most likely see some retaliation in the future.
Say Goodbye to Charming?
In one of the the finals scenes of the season 2 finale, we see Gemma and Chief Wayne Unser (Dayton Callie) on the run from the ATF. As they flee Charming, they drive by a sign that says, “Thank you for visiting Charming.” Unser then asks an open-ended question to Gemma, “Any idea where we’re headed?” With Jax’s baby kidnapped and Gemma on the run, chances are we may see some new locations in Season 3. Hopefully, the writers will be able to maintain the show’s intensity across multiple state lines.
Did Gemma Jump the Shark?
Gemma’s last words to her husband, Clay, were, “Come home to me.” Then Gemma killed Zobelle’s daughter, got framed by ATF Agent Stahl (Ally Walker) for multiple murders, and was forced to flee Charming. Many fans said that Sons of Anarchy jumped the shark when Gemma killed Zobelle’s daughter. The murder was a stark opposite to Gemma’s meticulous nature. Now we’ll be left to wonder how SAMCRO will function without their queen. Gemma has always been the focal point of the show’s drama. Now that she’s on the run, maybe Gemma will lead the charge to rescue Able?

The Future of Otto
Otto may not have played a major role in day-to-day SAMCRO dealings, but fans couldn’t help but fall in love with this character after he bashed Stahl’s head into a table. Sadly, Otto is left without his vision and his wife. His usefulness to SAMCRO seems a distant memory.
Team Jax
In the season 2 finale, Filip “Chibs” Telford (Tommy Flanagan) and Harry “Opie” Winston (Ryan Hurst) are seen teaming up with Jax. Each time Jax makes a move to ride, Opie quickly states that he will ride with Jax and Chibs immediately seconds the call. In Season 3, we’ll see more of Team Jax. The only question is, will Team Jax be local to Charming or will they be in pursuit of Able? If they leave Charming, will they be forced to go Nomad?

A New Chief in Town
Unser is officially out as chief. Deputy Chief David Hale (Taylor Sheridan) will be stepping up as head lawman in Charming. But, will we even be in Charming to notice?
The Hunt for Zobelle
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Sons of Anarchy will at least make it to Season 5. If that’s the case, then Zobelle will probably return in Season 4 or later for Clay to finally get the chance to exact his revenge. Since Zobelle will most likely never return to Charming, this will reinforce the possibility that SAMCRO will step outside of Charming come season 3. His final words in the finale were, “We adjust and adapt.” This line is another foreshadowing of what’s to come, and further potential for an overall farewell to Charming.
Agent Stahl
Retribution must be had. Agent Stahl shot Edmond Hayes. She’s one of the best villains on Sons of Anarchy so we’ll most likely see more of her in the coming season. We’re all hoping that Gemma will find a way to get retribution and return to Clay, but as long as Agent Stahl is on the loose, there will be no safe place in or around Charming for Gemma.
Jax and Tara
Before the Season 2 finale, we saw wedding bells in Jax and Tara’s future. Without his son, can Jax truly find the peace he needs to commit to Tara? And, is Tara willing to bear the harsh burden of supporting Jax in this time. Tara was on the outs with the hospital, maybe we’ll see her say goodbye to the medical profession all together to rise up and become the new queen of SAMCRO. It’s hard to imagine anyone taking the place of Gemma, but Tara is no doubt up for the job. If Jax decides to lead Opie and Chibs on a rescue mission, Tara may come along for the ride as they eventually cross paths with Gemma.

Regardless of where Kurt Sutter takes Sons of Anarchy in Season 3, we’ll be there anxiously awaiting the future of this brilliantly scripted and performed series.

Gemma blamed her rapes on Zobelle’s Daughter, so yes, she was out to get her. I like the line of Gemma finding the baby and taking him away with her and Tara stepping up to be queen, but to be queen, Jax would have to be king. And I’m not seeing that happen this season because he’s after the Irish……Love the show, can’t wait until Sept
I love Sons of Anarchy. Sutter has proven to be one of the best writers in Hollywood. S2 finale was a bit much. I think there was only 1 thing resolved and that was Weston. The baby being kidnapped by Cameron was over-the-top. The way Tara fumbled protecting Abel left me feeling disappointed with her character. I feel taking the crew to Ireland is a big stretch…maybe FX should spend the money on hiring more writers to help Kurt extend the 13 episodes. Can’t imagine seeing the bikers in Ireland. Too many holes to fill–why wouldn’t they pursue Cameron; why wouldn’t they call Hale to alert the ports. Maybe one way to help this storyline is to let Tara (and Gemma) redeem themselves by helping get Abel back. Perhaps Tara can end Cameron’s life. She healed him, now let her take him out. After reading many blogs and comments, I found most viewers like the Jax/Tara relationship. How many viewers will stop watching if the baby is never found, or worse, dies and their romance sours?
BACK AT THE CLUBHOUSE,JAX & CLAY R TRYING TO FIGURE OUT IF THEY SHOULD CALL FOR BACK UP, JUST THEN THE PHONE RINGS, ITS GEMMA, SHORT AND SWEET SHE TELLS JAX SHE HAS THE BABY AND IS GOING INTO HIDING UNTIL THEY HAVE THE IRISH THING TAKEN CARE OF, AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK ON UNSER,SOON THEY HEAR LOUD PIPES, MANY LOUD PIPES, IT’S THEIR BACKUP, CHARMING WILL NEVER BE THE SAME………………………………………………………………………..
START OF SEASON THREE, SHOWS GEMMA AND UNSER LOOKING INTO AN OLD WAREHOUSE BY THE WATER FRONT, THEY SEE THE IRISH WITH HER GRANDSON,UNSER ENDS UP IN THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING YELLING AT THE IRISH TO COME OUT, GEMMA GETS THROUGH A WINDOW,WHERE THE BABY IS AT, CONFRONTS A FEW AMD SHOOTS THEM. UNSER IS SHOT OUT FRONT, GEMMA IS ON HER WAY WITH THE BABY,SIRENS R HEARD DOWN THE ROAD.. STAHL AND HER CONVOY ARE ON THEIR WAY, SHE SEE’S UNSER ON THE GROUND, SHE WALKS UP TO HIM WITH THE GUN POINTED AT HIM, WANTS TO KNOW WHERE GEMMA IS AT, HE ANSWERS WITH A “FUCK YOU”..JUST AS SHE WAS PRESSING HER FINGER TO THE TRIGGER, ANOTHER AGENT WALKS UP TELLING HER THEY JUST CALLED FOR AN AMBULANCE. MEAN WHILE SHOWING GEMMA GOING DOWN THE ROAD WITH THE BABY…..
I agree, the baby thing is too much. I hope they don’t pan to 4 years later or some cheese thing like that. I hope hey get the baby back quickly and focus on other things like getting Stahl. I thought the same thing about Stahl, what is with her face? I wasnt sure if that was part of the show or if she normally looked like she had too much botox/plastic surgery. I think the focus will be after getting the baby back on Tera wanting to back out– she said she wants to have babies but how could she with Jax when she sees what happens to them? I especially like the story between Jax and Tera, would like to see Ables mom reenter the story, maybe the girlfriend of halfsack too since Gema isn’t around. Gema and Unser would be really gross, I hope they don’t go there. I hope I remember the story like by the time they release it!
Agent Stahl………..you have to hate her, what a real super villian.
Doesnt Alley Walker, remember her from Profiler look rather too botoxed!!!
what a shame she did anything to her lovely face……not so lovely ANYMORE!!!
CANT WAIT FOR HER TO GET SOME OF WHAT SHE DESERVES COME BACK TO HER
season 3 left me hanging on the edge of my seat…..loved it!!!
That bitch agent stahl has to get some of what she dished out come back to her, if not they should kill her.
Jax better get his baby back or it will really ruin the show, the show centres around family being the most important thing to the sons, if they dont go above and beyond to get baby abel back then l cant watch it anymore.
and a huge thumbs down for killing prospect, we loved him…and just when he was going to get his patch!!!!!!
Kill the irish kill the mayans kill zobel oh yea deffinetley kill the fed and get the baby
i think gemma demonstrated several times throughout the season she can fly off the handle and is possibly even more cutthroat than the men. she followed rollins’ character, chased zobelle’s daughter, gun in hand, down the street and even pulled out on some lady in another car on charming’s main drag. i think if anything, the fed broad is the one exhibiting the self-destructive behavior. how much longer can she last like this? opie shoulda capped her.
AGREED!!! I needed at least a little closure. ;o)
I loved the second season, but didn’t really care for the way they wrapped it up. WAY too much happened - the Gemma we know would never shoot Zobelle’s daughter at a random place and THEN just sit down calmly after doing it. And the baby kidnapping thing was just a little bit too much too swallow. The season was PERFECT up until the finale. I hope they can reel this thing in come September.
