Entourage fans, let’s all face it: the show is getting up there in age. While we all reminisce about the glory days of the first three seasons, the cruel reality is that we only have about 24 episodes left (max) and maybe a movie.
Say what you want about Season 6 (aka the “Ashley” season), but I contend that it wrapped everything up just a little too neatly, almost in the way a series finale should; all our favorite characters being where they needed to be.
Vince (Adrian Grenier) is back on the A-list, the acrid aftertaste of Medellin a distant memory. Ari (Jeremy Piven) is set to takeover all of Hollywood, now the owner of the biggest talent agency. Drama (Kevin Dillon) is happy with a holding deal, E (Kevin Connolly) got his girl and Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) was still Turtle, but at least he was in school. The show could’ve walked off into the sunset and I would’ve been happy.
But with a 7th season still 5-6 months away, we can only speculate what will or won’t happen. I’ve taken it upon myself to devise a list of 10 tips the writers need to follow if they want to bring this thing in for a smooth landing before the Jane’s Addiction song plays for the last time.

Does anyone feel like season 6 was just plain bad? Not only the plot but the Ari I grew to love seemed dead. There was none of his outrageous swearing and the “jokes” seemed to be kept in check. It just seems like the show turned it down a notch. Does anyone feel the same? Is it because they went to primetime? It used to be 18a… now its 14a?
I agree with all of them, especially “No More Flash Forwards!”
That really pissed me off the way the season started with Vince back on top, and no mention or scenes or anything about the Martin Scorsese Movie that put him back there!
That was just lazy writing, and whoever made that decision needs to get his ass fired!
I waited all year long to see a full season about the Scorsese movie, only to watch 12 episodes of NOTHING! Season 6 was a complete BS season!!
I agree with all of them specially the last (first) one. The whole “entourage” thing is gone now. The best thing about the show was the fact that despite they were in, they were always there for each other.
If the show were to conclude with season 5, I would’ve been happy, but since they went onto season 6, there has to be a redemption for the series. Not story-wise, just for the show not to be considered one that had its glory days and then faded away.
I’m not in the business, so I can’t be sure about this but the writing has been extremely poor ever since Ally Musika tagged along for the ride and started giving the show her female POV. It’s a guy show and we don’t want the sensitivity training. The only good part about season 6 was the last 3 episodes where Doug Ellin jumped in and decided to clean up the series finale.
Let’s hope he stays on to write the whole Season 7 all by himself, if that’s what it takes.
Concluding, great article Benjamin Porter.
Benjamin, great list. you and I have the same thoughts about how to do the next season. “the ashley season”, too funny!
Sam, you’re an idiot if you Season 6 was one of the best. WTF were you watching?
great list.
Matt Damon was a useless plug.
And whoever that Ari sidekick was who drove his car into his wife’s house was wasted moments of my life
I agree the show has run it’s course. Plotless and shallow, they should have concluded it last season. It’s a poor man’s sex and the city. That show was amazing. look what happened when it went to feature. it was plain bad
Series 6 was one of the best seasons of Entourage. I see what the writer is saying about it being a series finale. anythng from here on will feel like a reboot and it’s not needed. I think the wedding will be skipped. there’s no use showing off wedding for several reasons. most likely they’ll want to jump start Ari’s career as lead agent. In which case, they’ll probably cut forward 2 years. Ari be so big that he wont give Vince any more time, or his marriage will be in ruin. I’d say the crew will go “their seperate ways” but that would be a boring cause then there will be some wacky forced way that they have to all come back together again and be friends. anyway we’ve seen the whole crew splitsville before when E was on the outs with Vince and we’ve seen when they were on the outs with Ari. So at the end of the day, we’ve seen it all. I guess now they can actually start being movie producers and see where fame heads. Focus on Drama. I think the story with him is where it’s at. Now that he’s finally made it. what kind of person will he become?
