It’s a fact of life: character favorites often get scripted off of shows, sometimes without explanation. This happened on Lost on more than one occasion, when a DUI caused a character to get the ax. Unfortunately, the latest ax in great programming seems to come without provocation. Showtime’s Nurse Jackie, starring Edie Falco, has just released actor Haaz Sleiman. According to the Ausiello Files, a representative for Sleiman reported that the network said “the character’s storyline ran its course.”
Sleiman played Mo-Mo, Jackie’s gay sidekick at-arms. His sarcasm earned him laugh after laugh on Nurse Jackie’s run to the top. Unfortunately, it was his last lap. On Lost, when a character gets fired, they get an episode dedicated to writing them off the show in a big and often shocking way. According to EW, on Nurse Jackie Mo-Mo simply fades away without so much as a passing line. The actor’s representative said, “We were surprised. It came out of left field.”
Sleiman is scheduled to be in the feature film Highland Park. The film is currently in post production and slated for a 2010 release.
Nurse Jackie Season 2 returns to Showtime on March 22, 2010. The show has been partnered with the season 2 premiere of the United States of Tara, starring Toni Collette.

What a big mistake not to have Mo-Mo (Haaz Sleiman) on the show Nurse Jackie this season. I used to be such a big fan and enjoyed Mo-mo’s and Jackie’s talks/gossip sessions in the chapel. I have not been following the show this season, and he’s the reason. Too bad.
I cannot wait for the return of United States of Tara!
