Two news bombs dropped on the world of Smallville this week.

First, Pam Grier (The L Word) has been signed to play Amanda Waller On ‘Smallville.’‎ If you ever followed the Justice League animated series or the DC Universe, Amanda Waller is Big Brother personified. This may spell trouble for Clark and the Chloe-League (because let’s face it, Chloe runs the show), but it should be a great boost in story arc depth on Smallville.

Secondly, brace yourselves, Geoff Johns is coming to Smallville. Yes, all you comic savants, the mastermind behind Blackest Night is attacking TV in a ‘Super’ way. The episodes will feature Stargirl, Hawkman and Dr. Fate. What, no third-smartest man, Mr. Terrific? He always seems to pop up. Aside from Hawkman these may appear to be odd choices overall, but Geoff Johns does pen Justice Society of America, which features the richer more complex, albeit abstract, characters of the DCU. So, he’s right at home with characters who are out of the limelight.

The episodes are currently titled: “Society” and “Legends.”

But, honestly, the real shocker is that the Smallville staff felt the need to bring the Wonder Twins to Smallville. In Smallville Season 9 Episode 8,’Idol,’ superhero twins Zan (guest star David Gallagher) and Jayna (guest star Allison Scagliotti) show up in Metropolis to help The Blur fight crime but end up botching several rescues, landing Clark (Tom Welling) in hot water with the District Attorney’s office. Clark decides to come forward as the Blur to clear his name. Allison Mack, Erica Durance, Justin Hartley, Cassidy Freeman and Callum Blue also star. Glenn Winter directed the episode written by Ann Coffel Saunders.
