Let’s be honest. Watching a series where you know how it all ends can feel anti-climactic at times. Star Wars is the most reused franchise of all time, in both media and merchandising. Most loyalists will argue that Lucas has personally raped and exploited the series he created. However, time and time again, those same people flock back to Star Wars to soak in as much force-infused action as they can.

The force is strong in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Season 2 proves that this franchise can still introduce enough nuances to bring back old fans as well as captivate newer audiences. The series has taken on a darker tone, placing it in the sought after tween space. Death after death, wrought by Bane, has made older audiences raise an intrigued eyebrow at this latest Lucas-born incarnation.

Padmé Amidala goes undercover in “Senate Spy,” premiering Oct 16 on Cartoon Network.

The Clone Wars corrects the story flaws of the Star Wars prequels. Surprisingly, Padme and Anakin’s relationship has chemistry in CG, something that was desperately lacking in the films. Also, we see a more complex Anakin. He isn’t just the rebellious crybaby Jedi we saw in the movies. CG Anakin actually obeys orders – most of the time. He respects his teacher Obi Wan, without always adding a loathing comment. Anakin recognizes when personal emotions can get in the way of the mission and he sees the error of his own brashness in Padawan Ahsoka.

We’re barely scratching the surface of season 2, and the Jedi are already playing with the cards stacked against them. The Jedi Temple has been invaded. The stolen holocron has been lost. Anakin once again has won the fight, but he has failed to complete his mission objective.

Will we see Anakin make a play for the dark side of the force before the season finale? I hope so. But, if he’s going to cross that line – fan favorite Cad Bane may have to die.

I don’t see how people saw this as a bad episode. Personally,I thought this episode was very well done. We get to see Anakin’s jealous side, a kind of ‘war’ in the politics’ life and it gives us a break form explosions for once. We also see a good dynamic feature with Padme’s and Anakin’s relationship. We see that they have their rough days and not they’re not just a cute couple with no flaws, heck they’re just like every husband and wife! Still, I liked this episode, and I don’t give a f**k who doesn’t.
