The Clone Wars has come back to Cartoon Network in a big way. After the close of season 2, the one name on everyone’s lips was Cad Bane. He is no doubt one of the baddest bounty hunter’s in the galaxy without the last name Fett. Now, thanks to Bane’s success, “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” has been aptly named “Rise of the Bounty Hunters.”
The Season 2 Premiere of the Clone Wars raised the intensity level of Star Wars up a few notches. Sure, we know where the story is going, but, atrocious feature films aside, it’s still fun to get there.
“Holocron Heist,” starts off mid battle with Anakin Skywalker’s young padawan, Ahsoka Tano (aka Snips), doing what she does best: disobey orders. When she refuses to retreat under Master Kenobi’s orders, Snips is reprimanded by the Jedi Council and is demoted to Jedi Temple guard duty. Coincidentally, the Sith Lord is planning a raid on the Jedi Temple at that exact time, and enlists the help of everyone’s favorite Bounty Hunter, Cad Bane.
Bane hires a changeling to shape shift into Jedi Master Ord Enisence and enter the Temple undetected. Always a step ahead of his adversaries, Bane uses a techno-droid to divert Anakin and Obi-Wan’s attention, while he steals the Holocron. Now, the Sith Lord has access to every potential Jedi young one in the galaxy.
This season of The Clone Wars is off to an excellent start. Not only are the story lines becoming darker, but also new characters are arising who pose a serious threat to the Jedi order. I can’t help but wonder if Bane will eventually be the one who kills Snips. Also, after last season’s finale, I actually would like to see how Anakin and Padmé Amidala’s relationship progresses. The couple’s CG relationship puts to shame that of their feature film real life counterparts. Season 1 got off to a slow start, and lost several viewers. Hopefully, with the new Bounty Hunter focus, Season 2 can win back Star Wars’ stragglers.
In Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 2 Episode 2, “Cargo of Doom,” Anakin and Ahsoka intercept Cad Bane’s warship, hoping to recover the stolen Jedi Holocron, but the Jedi underestimate the bounty hunter’s cunning tactics.
