“Heroes” is one show that always starts off with an epic beginning. Several people with extraordinary abilities, who are seemingly unconnected, are suddenly brought together in order to save the world.

Season 4 started off with the same formula. Hiro and Ando are back in Japan, trying to be heroes. Sylar is a looming threat, walking the world under the forced-guise of Nathan Petrelli. HRG is still trying to do the right thing, but always seems to fail. Claire Bennett wants to be normal, but somehow always ends up in distinctly abnormal situations. And, Angela Petrelli continues to dance the perpetual line between good and evil. Unfortunately, this formula has often left to muddled plot lines and often unbelievable and outrageous story holes – leaving several fans disgruntled.

Robert Knepper joins “Heroes” Volume 5, “Redemption,” as Samuel, a man with the power to control ink: he can choke you with it or use it to paint a portrait of someone he needs intel on. Aside from Syler, most major villains in Heroes have all had the ubiquitous belief that what they are doing is for the betterment of the world. Now, Samuel has joined the legacy of villains on Heroes. What he is up to and how it will play out is still unknown. But, he is willing to kill for it. Danko found out the hard way, that hiding a key could be lethal. While, HRG nearly died trying save the mysterious compass Danko was hiding. Back in Japan, Samuel has traveled back in time to meet a power-baffled and dying Hiro. Samuel gently suggests to Hiro that he can make small changes to the timeline, without causing the terrible Butterfly effect.

This all sounds like an engrossing plot line, but “Heroes” fans have been let down before. One of the problems is that the creative team of Heroes never lets the bad guys just be bad. In season 2, Sylar was crippled. Then season 3 came, and Sylar had daddy issues. On the good guy side, Peter, until Volume 4, had always been the whiney little brother to Nathan. He never fully used his powers during seasons 1 and 2. Then, Peter lost them. Thankfully, the creative staff has returned some form of stability to Peter, allowing him to slowly add more powers to his repertoire after he injected himself with the Suresh serum.
On a completely different note, love is in the air in “Heroes” Season 4. Tacy Strauss, aka Ice Woman, may have found a new love interest in HRG. The old “One of us, one of them” credo may have taken on an entirely new meaning. I’m actually excited about seeing their relationship develop, as it broadens the scope of HRG’s character without defying the rules of the “Heroes” universe.

In “Heroes” Season 4 Episode 3, “Ink,” Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) faces unexpected consequences for his heroic acts and encounters a reluctant new hero (guest star Deanne Bray). As Claire (Hayden Panettiere) continues to adjust to college life, she must figure out how to deal with her ability having been revealed. Meanwhile, Samuel (Robert Knepper) moves heaven and earth to recapture the memories of his late brother Joseph. Elsewhere, Matt (Greg Grunberg) struggles with his internal demons as Sylar (Zachary Quinto) mysteriously resurfaces.

At the end of season 3 Peter and Nathan confront sylar together. At the time Peter can only have one power at a time but only because most people he took power from have only one power. Sylar has many powers so the plan was to get Peter close enough to Sylar to copy all sylars powers to Peter thus putting him on an equal playing field with Sylar. Peter is basically the same as Sylar except for without the serial killing habit.

I would say Peter can control more than one power at a time. He said he was adding powers to help him become better at saving people faster. Maybe he can’t say use two powers at once (eg if he were to fly and use his super strength at the same time)

Ok. I have to admit Volume 2 sucked badly; 3 was ok; 4 was baddddddd. Somehow I always liked Heroes; but with every new Volume follows disappointment. Nonetheless I’m still gonna give Volume 5 a chance. So far it looks pretty Awesome, but the show seems to be emitting the ‘Villain’ vibe, rather than the ‘Redemption’ vibe. It’s like another group of villains rising, following Arthur Petrelli’s downfall.

Anyway, i think Samuel has 2 powers (or maybe even more), ostensibly his control of earth (very evident from the 3rd eps where he destroyed the whole house) and his control of ink.

Relax dudes, no need to get so worked up. X)

You can’t really say what Samuel’s powers are. Just like everyone on Heroes, the writers will just flip around their powers whenever they need to plug a loophole or just go off in another wack direction. The show is dead.

haha. you can tell nighttoker89 is another teenage fanboy who lacks any objectivity. Actually, the 89 says it all.

Get it through your skull. Heroes has sucked for the past two seasons. At least this season doesn’t feel like another abused Marvel/DC plot.

“Samuel, a man with the power to control ink”… Seriously, Whoever wrote this is a dunce. Considering you already seen Samuel bury his brother, moving the soil with the power of his mind…

Very basic views and understanding of the show, It honestly sounds like you have never watched the show, just copy and pasted stuff you’ve heard.

    This article sucks, SO bad.
