Sons of Anarchy Season 2 Episode 3: Fix

It’s official. Katey Sagal is one of the most captivating actors on TV right now. Period. After last week’s performance, I could hardly believe Katey would manage to outdo herself. Sure enough, in Sons of Anarchy Season 2 Episode 3,”Fix,” Sagal did just that.

Gemma has been having a hard time dealing with the post-traumatic stress from being sexually assaulted. She hasn’t been sleeping in bed with Clay, and she started to shudder from his touch. Unser has suggested she join an anonymous support group outside of Charming. Gemma flatly refuses. Her inner turmoil erupts when Clay confronts her outside of Luann’s porn shoot. Instead of taking over her grievances with Clay (Ron Perlman), she decides to battle him. The SAMCRO leader won’t be talked down to in front of his gang, even by his wife. So, he takes a cinder block and throws it through the window of Gemma’s SUV. Then he follows up the SUV attack with a barrage of melee attacks on the headlights. Gemma breaks down in front of Clay, afraid that he will hit her. The pain in her eyes was more than any simple marital dispute. Sagal transformed into more than an actor in that moment, she became a woman who was sexually assaulted. Sooner or later the truth will come out. But, if you’re Clay, you know things are bad in a relationship when Tig has to tell you, “Talk to her.”

Deputy Chief David Hale has taken a page out of J. Edgar Hoover’s book, allowing Ethan Zobelle to run a meth lab in Charming. His excuse: maybe siding with one demon will help to destroy another - SAMCRO. There was a time when we respected Hale for his staunch morals. Alas, he has sided with the separatists, joining the ranks of corrupt police officers. Opie is still dealing with the loss of Donna. Instead of using a detonator to blow up the crank shop, he triggers the explosion manually – nearly costing Opie his life.

Tara (Maggie Siff) is become more engrained in motorcycle club living. One of Luann’s porn stars is sweet on Jax (Charlie Hunnam). Gemma advises Tara to get her hands dirty and initiate a catfight with the competition. Tara decides to deliver her own form of pimp smack, by taking Jax into the bathroom and giving him the ride of his life. When Tara’s competition walks in on the two having sex, Tara just stares at her to let the tramp know whom Jax belongs to.

Sons of Anarchy Season 2 has quickly trumped the frosh season. And, if Katey Sagal doesn’t get an Emmy nomination in 2010, I am officially leading a protest on the Awards committee. So, watch out.
