With only four more episodes left in Weeds Season 5, it is clear that Nancy may never return to her carefree-marijuana-selling-soccer-mom days. Unfortunately, this epiphany comes with a great toll.

The lines have been drawn.

On one side we have the home court hero, Nancy Botwin, a simple gringa soccer mom with delusions of family normalcy. On the other side is the infamous Pilar Zuazo, the Mexican puppet master seeking to threaten Nancy’s family and marital prospects. In the middle, we have the balls-less Esteban, who has only recently decided to “man-up” and rebuke Pilar’s doctrine of “Keep it in the Family.” The spoil of this war is one Steven Ray Botwin, a newborn who has been freshly circumcised into the Jewish faith.

But, alas, all wars have their toll. Shane, no longer the baby of the family, has taken the first wound in this political-racial-religious war – spearheaded by Pilar Zuazo. In Episode 9, “Suck ‘N’ Spit,” Shane takes a bullet in his left arm. As if things weren’t bad enough for the Botwin teen, Shane had his first STD scare after last season’s memorable three-some.

Unfortunately, the Botwin family soon will be engaged in more than one war. Celia and Dean have “jacked” Silus and Doug’s pot, turning Celia’s lukewarm cosmetic business into a hot bed of half-baked beauty sales.

Fortunately, the Weeds loving world, knows that Celia can only have good fortune for so long. After all, karma is and always has been a “B.” But, as for the future of Esteban and Nancy, only Jenji Kohan has the real scoop on how that drama will play out.

In Weeds Season 5 Episode 10, “Perro Insano,” we’ll see just what lengths Doug will go to in order to reclaim his stolen weed. Nancy will try to protect her children from the threat of Pilar. My only question is, where is Guillermo in all of this? Hopefully, he’ll make a return before the end of the season.

Not to be picky, but Jewish men are circumcised, not castrated.

Male circumcision is the removal of the foreskin. Castration is the removal of the testes. There’s a considerable difference between the two.
