Jackie’s house of straw is beginning to tumble one episode at a time. With only three episodes left in the freshman season, our favorite All Saints nurse has more than a few patients to be concerned with. Her family life is being threatened on multiple fronts.
First, her absence from Grace’s life due to hospital work has left her eldest daughter, Grace, with a perpetual morose temperament. From all appearances Grace’s switch to a private Catholic school seems to be doing wonders for her. Jackie’s gloom-and-doom-eldest daughter is learning to be a better big sister to Fiona. But, she still misses her mom. When Jackie turns down Grace’s request for the nurse to skip work and stay with her, Grace tells her parents that she wishes the hospital would burn down.
Jackie’s drug problem has become more prevalent, as her nose spontaneously begins to bleed. She goes to Dr. O’Hara for a checkup, but quickly retreats within her mental-glass house after the doctor notices that her nasal passages are worn. During the resulting conversation, O’Hara lets it slip that she’s told her sister about Jackie’s affair. Jackie quickly takes umbrage to O’Hara’s loose tongue by flatly stating that she and O’Hara are not friends.
While we’re on the subject of affairs, Eddie is trying to “game” Jackie for a chance to meet her children. His method of operation is the use of science and parallel universes to subliminally suggest that he meet her daughter. Unfortunately, he still doesn’t realize that meeting Jackie’s daughter comes with the additional string of meeting Jackie’s husband.
After two episodes of childcare, Akalitus’ motherly escapade draws to a close. The parents of the child have resurfaced and robbed Akalitus of the baby she has grown so fond of. For a moment we saw a brighter, more sympathetic side to Akalitus. Most likely as the season draws to a close, we’ll see her take out her baby-loss on Jackie.
In Nurse Jackie Episode 10, “Ring Finger,” Jackie tries to save her relationship with Grace by beginning mother-daughter tap class. Expect to see sparks fly when Jackie has a wardrobe malfunction with her wedding ring, on the way to a hospital quickie.
