Boondock Saints II: Exclusive Interview with Billy Connolly

At SDCC, BuzzFocus caught up with Billy Connolly (Boondock Saints) to discuss his work on the upcoming feature Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. Billy returns as “the dark force,” Noah ‘Il Duce’ McManus.

Boondock Saints II is a cult film, that loyal fans will be apprehensive about do to the dreaded “sequel-itis.” Regardless, it is still a film that true loyalists have begged for over the past 10 years. If you haven’t seen the original Boondock, you’re missing out. As Connolly so eloquently states in this interview, “The people who have seen Boondock consider themselves superior to people who haven’t seen Boondock.”

Yeah, me again. I do not sleep. I am a freak.
Ok, that being said. I had to watch Billy’s interview. He is the finest example of a man who is confident and has this who cares what you think sense of humor. I Love his take on trying to make the Boondock Saints fit into a logical point of view. It is an outside the box film.

It is Duffy’s first born as he said which does not just stay outside the box, there IS NO BOX! And that is a philosophy I embrace. I found this again to be endearing. Connolly is someone who combines the intelligence of a genius with the flair of a rockstar. Refreshing to say the least.

And to listen to him say he is basically clueless about the end results of the film and the trailer; I think I broke a rib laughing! That is art. I Loved his insight into image of a fan versus the actor or individual in general. So true. We are who we are and they are who they are and trying to fight that will make anyone miserable.

    Not a democracy. Classic.

Then the ‘Are you kidding me!’ reaction most have when someone says Boondock what? Dead on what he said. Here is my true story. I was setting up another DVR the other day with the cable dude. He asked do you have a DVD? I grabbed Boondock, not intentionally which was weird, it just was in a spot near me. I asked what he thought of it. He said, I haven’t seen it. What’s it about. HUH? No way, really! Since it is impossible to give a coherent plot synopsis, I gave him the copy. Not my only one. I have this strange feeling he will stop by one day to rave.

Ok, I will take my leave. This site is more than wonderful!
