Star Wars alum Natalie Portman is set to join the upcoming Marvel superhero film ‘Thor.’ Portman will play Jane Foster, the nurse employed by Thor’s secret identity, Donald Blake.
Portman joins actor Chris Hemsworth, who will be playing Thor. You may remember Hemsworth from his quick role as George Kirk in this summer’s awesome Star Trek movie. Also on board for the film is Tom Hiddleston, who will be playing Thor’s nemesis Loki. Kenneth Branagh will serve as director.
Portman should be a good addition to the cast. When inspired, she can deliver a great performance (a la V for Vendetta). But hopefully she’ll have more to work with than she did for her role as Padme in Star Wars, Episodes I-III.
Thor, being released by Paramount Pictures, is currently set to hit theaters on May 20, 2011 and will begin shooting next year.
