If the hearing the name Seth MacFarlane doesn’t immediately ring a bell, you’ve been living under a very heavy rock for the past decade.

familyguy_vol7MacFarlane has transformed himself into a self-made living legend by taking over the world of prime time television with irreverent adult-themed cartoon humor. In May, two great Seth MacFarlane animated treasures came home to DVD: American Dad Volume 4 and Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy. June brings home another animated gem, Family Guy Volume 7.

Family Guy Volume 7 revisits the fictional town of Quahog, home to the bumbling Peter Griffin, his wife Lois, teenage daughter Meg, son Chris, diabolical infant son Stewie, and the well-mannered talking lush of a dog Brian. The DVD features 13 episodes from Family Guy Season 6 and 7. Family Guy, notorious for poking fun at pop culture, features jokes on “Lost,” the song “Bird is the Word,” “Indiana Jones,” George W. Bush, Jesus, and of course Seth’s go 80s cartoons like Thundercats and The Transformers. So if you’re a fan of Mumm-ra, Megatron, Star Trek, or just about anything else on TV, you’ll definitely get a kick out of this release.

The DVD special features include “Take Me Out to pLace Tonight” with Frank Sinatra, Jr. The Featurette goes over the ideas for “pLace,” as well as inspiration for Frank and Brian Griffin’s crooner club. “Family Guy CRIBZ” is a tour of the Family Guy offices. After watching this Featurette, you’ll probably want to get into writing prime-time cartoons. The office is filled with candy, toys, pinball machines, comics and cartoon stills.

Family Guy Volume 7 is a non-stop laugh ride that will have you spewing milk out of your nose. If you’ve never checked out Family Guy or questioned your own integrity for laughing at a Seth MacFarlane joke, then this is one DVD set worth checking out.
