As the now popular phrase goes, True Blood was simply ‘fangtastic’ yet again this past Sunday.

And while it was a huge relief last week to find out the fan favorite Lafayette was not dead, things certainly aren’t looking too good for Merlotte’s former short order cook. This week picked up the action without skipping a beat, starting with Royce’s dismembered arm in mid-flight landing with a bloody thud on Lafayette’s chest. So, note to self: Do not come close to Eric with anything that even resembles steel. Lafayette learned that lesson pretty quickly and was more than cooperative with the questions the vampires asked of him.

Meanwhile, I’m not buying Jason’s Light of Day camp act at all. Yes, he genuinely is seeking redemption and believes what the Newlins are teaching him. But the clock is already ticking on this time bomb; it’s only a matter of time before he reverts to his old blunder-prone self. And the writers made it clear that Sarah Newlin wasn’t just fond of his flag football skills: those wink-winks are a telegraph of some in-the-sack happenings on the horizon.

Of course, Maryanne did not fail to freak me out once again. It’s pretty apparent that no one can resist her influential powers and she seems to be feeding off the interaction of others. In 30 minutes flat, she turned Merlotte’s into a bona fide orgy. How long before Tara completely realizes that Maryanne is crazy? Something tells me she’s not going to be able to just walk away easy from this one.

And what of Lafayette’s ‘Plan C’? We all knew he wasn’t going to escape, but to opt to get turned into a vampire? He’s definitely a survivalist as he put it. So will Eric, Pam and that other dude just feed of our V-dealing friend or will they fully turn him?

Take a look at the preview for next week’s episode, “Scratch My Back.”
