BuzzFocus recently attended THQ’s Holiday Press day, at the Royalton Hotel in New York City, to check out all the games heading home for the 2009 holiday season.

We got a chance to check out MX vs ATV Reflex, Cars Race-O-Rama, Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter, Marvel Super Hero Squad, and THQ’s holiday coup de gras Darksiders.

We’ll be sharing coverage of various games throughout the week as well as video interviews with each game’s project team. So, be sure to check back each day for the latest in Holiday Gaming from THQ.

About MX vs. ATV Reflex:
This motocross racer features a new dual-stick control system. Instead of simply controlling your wheels, gamers can now control the racers body. This will allow you to perform more freestyle moves and wrestle your ride from disastrous situations. MX vs. ATV Reflex features new terrain deformation. Now, when you perform donuts in the dirt you will not only see the ground being torn up, but you will also see added layers of destruction each time you roll over that same patch of ground. The attention to detail is amazing with this new engine.

About Cars Race-O-Rama:
Cars received a tremendous upgrade in playable characters. You now have access to more than 30 playable characters, 15 of which are brand new. Racing has been upgraded to feature added drifting abilities. THQ has also packed the game with 10 new mini games. Visually the game isn’t near completion yet. The lighting and model shading wasn’t finalized yet to give a full critique.

About Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter:
Drawn to Life may not seem like much on the surface, but underneath the hood you’ll find a game with a lot of customization worth taking a look at. Gamers can create and draw over 100 unique items throughout the game, including wings, swords and vehicles.

Drawn to Life hits the Wii and DS Fall 2009.

About Marvel Super Hero Squad:
Marvel Super Hero Squad will be released in tandem with the new Marvel animated television series coming to the Cartoon Network. The game features stylized characters reminiscent of the Lego franchise of games. Gamers can play with more than 20 different Marvel characters ranging from Super Heroes to Super Villains. Marvel Super Hero Squad features six campaigns based on the upcoming animated series, as well as a Battle Mode that allows up to four players to fight to the finish. Spider-Man has been included in the game, but will not be in the animated TV series.

About Darksiders:
Darksiders combines action and adventure with an RPG style of gaming, reminiscent of the Zelda franchise. You play as War, the first Horseman of the Apocalypse who has been accused of breaking the sacred law by inciting a war between Heaven and Hell. The in-game visuals and cinematic cut-scenes are stunning. The game is as violent as it is grim. You will be able to use nearly every object in your environment as a weapon. Plus, you can pick up enemies by their head to crush their skulls. It’s delightful in its morbidness. The game includes several Zelda-like puzzles that will give gamers a hearty 20-hours of gameplay. Meticulous gamers will be able to squeeze nearly 40 hours of added gameplay through unlockables and added discoveries.
