The Ice Truck Killer. Sergeant Doakes. Miguel Prado. All of these “Dexter” characters have something in common. They’re all people that have tried to outsmart Dexter Morgan, but have failed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Season 4 of Dexter will see a new nemesis that will try to best our protagonist, none other than John Lithgow. The veteran actor will play Walter Simmons, a low-key suburban dweller that leads a double life as a serial killer. His moniker will be the “Trinity Killer” because of his propensity to kill in threes.
Dexter will be put on the investigation case and, just like with the Ice Truck Killer, he will become fascinated with his new competitor.
This is great news that another awesome actor will join the show. Jimmy Smits was awesome as Miguel Prado in Season 3 and Lithgow seems perfect to play an unassuming maniacal killer. I officially can’t wait.
You can expect for the fourth season of Dexter to return to Showtime on September 27, 2009.
