In a surprising turn of events, ABC has decided to cancel Christine Applegate starring Samantha Who?
The show had been riding the bubble for a while, but appeared to be in good shape as the network looked willing to renew if the production budget could be cut. Just last week, it was announced that it would switch to shooting multicamera (a move that would’ve considerably cut editing time and production expense).
But ultimately, ABC has picked up a bunch of pilots, making it easier to cut the show, which was vying for a third season pickup.
Things can change so quickly in the TV business; Samantha Who? was considered a hit during its debut season, but it failed to perform in its sophomore season as it was moved from Monday to Wednesday nights.
