So, you want to join the Rock Band bandwagon, but you’re a kid who has never heard of the archaic songs your parents have been drumming along to. What’s a kid to do?
Well the folks at MTV, Harmonix and LEGO decided to combine the music experience of Rock Band with that childlike humor and customization of the Lego franchise. This will be the first time Harmonix and MTV have dived into making spin-off games for their Rock Band franchise. The leading competitor Guitar Hero has already ventured into making band exclusive releases like Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero: Metallica.
They’ve included a few “chart-topping” sngs suitable for younger audiences including: ” Song 2″ by Blur, “Kung Fu Fighting” by Carl Douglas, “The Final Countdown” by Europe, “Boys and Girls” by Good Charlotte and “So What” by Pink.
Wait… what about “You’ve Got the Touch” by Stan Bush? Hopefully, that will be available as downloadable content.
Stadiums, local venues, and fantasy locations on Earth will be brought to live with the brilliance of the Lego. Plus, you’ll be able to customize band members, roadies, managers, and your own personal Entourage. Watch out Vince.
“We’re thrilled to offer another LEGO branded gaming experience that will deliver humorous and social play for families and friends,” said Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, Vice President, the LEGO Group. “LEGO Rock Bandis built around the same values of imagination and family-friendly creative role play that is present in other LEGO videogames. It will deliver innovative new elements of game play that complement the fun of the Rock Band experience.”
The new Lego Rock Band is expected to come to video game retailers holiday 2009. It will be available on the Xbox 360, Sony PS3, and Nintendo Wii. The Nintendo DS version will be co-developed by TT Games and Harmonix in partnership with Backbone Entertainment, a Foundation 9 Entertainment studio.
