William Hurt, co-star of FX’s Damages, has been tapped to join the untitled Robin Hood movie, which is currently being developed by legendary director Ridley Scott.
Hurt is reportedly being signed to play William Marshall, the Earl of Pembroke, one of the most powerful men in all of Europe. The veteran actor joins Oscar winners Russell Crowe (Robin Hood/Sheriff of Nottingham) and Cate Blanchett (Maid Marian)on the film, which will be an origin story of the famed character.
This movie is looking better and better each time we receive an update about it. Hurt is a great character actor and will match up nicely with Crowe and Blanchett. And we all know that Scott and Crowe have become a great duo, teaming up on Gladiator, American Gangster, Body of Lies and A Good Year.
Filming for the movie has already begun in the United Kingdom.

Hurt totally killed as Daniel Purcell in Damages. He played such a dynamic character and really bolstered this season.
I’m still surprised they’re making another Robin Hood movie. I actually was a big fan of the Kevin Costnar Robin Hood and loved all the cast members.
